Perfecting the Spherical Steel Tank

Daily Commercial News released an article about the design, production and field erection of our ASME Storage Spheres, also known as Spherical Tanks.  Author Peter Kenter writes,

Steel tanks are so common in urban and industrial settings that they scarcely attract attention. That is, unless they’re perfect spheres designed and built by TIW Steel Platework of St. Catharines, Ont.

Following an interview with some of our management and field experts, Kenter sheds some light on the design, fabrication and construction process of these unique spherical vessels.

Tank projects begin with engineering, as design drawings indicate the locations of connectors for legs, valves, baffles, staircases, catwalks, cross-members and other intricate features that make the vessels functional and accessible.
